My time Student Teaching at Strath Haven Middle School with Mr. Henry Pearlberg was an extremely insightful experience. I had the opportunity to work with a wide range of students from different backgrounds and skill levels, in both an instrumental and general music setting.
During my placement I taught 6-8th grade band, 6th grade string orchestra and, general music. Which exposed me to a wide range of music repertoire, secondary instrument skills, and creative lesson planning. I was also exposed to different teaching settings as well, teaching in both a virtual and hybrid classroom environment. Where I utilized many online music learning tools, such as Smart Music and Soundtrap to help facilitate student engagement.

With Mr. Pearlberg's constant guidance and wisdom, I learn more than I could have imagined about while working with him. His years of teaching experience and leadership with PMEA, helped me recognize my own teaching philosophy and how I wish to grow as an educator in the 21st Century.

INTRODUCTION TO HIP-HOP
A presentation created to introduce Hip-Hop music to students which features musical examples from local musicians. The presentation also includes music from other African American Artist for Student to enjoy and listen to. Ending with a video tutorial for how to create a hip-hop beat and rap in Soundtrap.

Lesson Slides for SHMS Instrumental Music Spring 2021
The presentation introduces the new Spring 2021 Repertoire for students. All of the pieces selected/featured were composed by female musicians, such as Jennifer Higdon and Yukiko Nishimera. The presentation also includes other prominent female musicians to share with students.
